Column: Yakami-ryu and HIDEN magazine – The ultimate recognition

By Jokokan Denmark

If you combine fashion's most exclusive, recognized and important magazines, such as VOGUE, COSMOPOLITAN and VANITY FAIR into one magazine, this would best describe the world-renowned "second to none" magazine of martial arts and martial arts; The Japanese "The HIDEN, BUDO & BUJUTSU" magazine.

An exclusive magazine which is often sold out before it is published, and which is highly respected for its credibility, integrity and extremely thorough but also discreet research around the main articles in its monthly magazine. It is said that nothing is left to chance, and a completed investigation often means that "HIDEN magazine" knows more detailed facts than many of the investigated persons or organizations can remember or even were aware of!.

Soke Sensei Tonegawa, Jokokan and Yakami-ryu have now achieved this ultimate recognition. In the December 2004 issue, a series of articles began in "HIDEN magazine" about Jokokan and Yakami-ryu with Soke Sensei Tonegawa as the natural front figure. The six-page, picture-packed article covered the importance of correct basics and kamae (fighting stances), as well as good tricks to improve them.

The reactions were very positive and overwhelming. The article was therefore followed up with a subsequent seven-page long article, dealing with kokyu-ho (correct breathing) and kiai (battle cry). In this article, Yamana (Kimu) Sensei) and Jokokan Europe, including Jokokan Denmark, are described and adorned with two supporting images.

Soke Sensei achieved the rare honor of being selected to grace the most viewed page of the magazine – the opposite full page of the table of contents. Everyone in the magazine business knows that under normal circumstances this is the most viewed and therefore usually the most expensive page in a magazine.

In "Hiden Magazin" this is free. It is considered, in true Budo and Bujutsu spirit, as the ultimate recognition, honor and respect for one of the world's greatest Grandmasters in Japanese and Chinese martial arts - who has now, through THE magazine, achieved the ultimate and now official recognition of his martial arts and skills on a worldwide scale , which are very few pruned.

Jokokan Denmark, Member of Jokokan Europe wishes Soke Sensei Tonegawa hearty congratulations on this ultimate recognition, as one of the world's true and greatest Budo & Bujutsu grandmasters today.
