Another year has passed since the last count of the number of members in the Shindenkan Association and also a year in which there has been both the growth of a new Shindenkan school in Furesø and not least the creation of two new SDK shooting associations, both of which are member schools of the Shindenkan Denmark organization.
Member development
In Shindenkan Denmark, we do the member count from week 6, week 6 the following year, and we have done this count since week 6 in February 2009, when week 6 February 2010 there were 665 registered members in the Shindenkan organization. That is
- Calculation for the year 2009, calculated in week 6 2010: 665 members
- Calculation for the year 2010, calculated in week 6 2011: 719 members
- Calculation for the year 2011, calculated in week 6 2012: 857 members
- Calculation for the year 2012, calculated in week 6 2013: 1084 members
The statement for 2012 has shown a member's approach of 26 %, which means that we in, per week 6 2013, in Shindenkan Denmark there are over 1000 members, exactly 1084 members.
You read that right 26 % – it is the biggest growth we have had in the organization so far and must be said to be a huge success, and also a thick line under the success strategy plan 2015, which was laid out in the Shindenkan honbu-dojo, and subsequently adopted by the federation board and the general meeting.
Shindenkan has completed the first epoch-making and innovative phases of the successful internationally recognized project; POW! - Project Old Modern Warrior, this has led to the establishment of two new Shooting Associations, which are members of Shindenkan Denmark, but also the Danish Sports Federation (DIF) through the Danish Shooting Union - We are looking forward to this getting into high gear, both in terms of activity as per membership, as planned over the coming months. There are many shooters in Shindenkan and we are happy that we have now been able to comply with their wish to practice shooting sports together.
The distribution and effective use of the 5 KPIs in all member schools has gotten better and better and new standard templates have been accessed during the season, which create a better overview and clarity for the individual schools as well as for the Confederation Board, Honbu-dojo and Shihan-kai 'one. There will be constant development in this tool for the benefit of all schools.
Remember! All work in Shindenkan and Shindenkan's member schools is voluntary and unpaid because we believe that our values make a difference - we believe that Shindenkan is the place for everyone who wants to practice multi-track martial arts and we want to pass on our knowledge and skills to a new generation in an improved, unreserved and structured manner for the benefit of them and us.
I wish all of Shindenkan's chief instructors the best of luck with their results, and wish my future successor as chairman of the association after the 2013 general meeting, the best of luck and a great pleasure in the position of trust 2013-2015. I wonder if we will reach 1,500 members when we look back on this period?.
Kindest Shindenkan greetings
Jens Iversen, Federation Chairman, Shindenkan Denmark
