Shindenkan is one of Scandinavia's and Denmark's oldest living and largest martial arts organizations from 1967, where more than 50,000 have trained for almost 60 years.

Shindenkan is a national and international martial arts organization. We are the fourth generation since 1988.

Shindenkan consists of two democratic organizations.

In the broad organization for martial arts, Shindenkan, it is possible to train several levels of the martial arts system Yakami Shinsei-ryu Taijutsu & Karate-do. There is room for everyone – the exerciser as well as the elite of all ages and through all life cycles. It is for everyone from 10.kyu, white belt to 10.dan, Black belt.

In the martial arts competence organization, Kaidenkan, it is possible to train several levels of the Hassei Yakami-ryu Taijutsu martial art system. This is for practitioners at the highest international level from and including the ancient denshograd Menkyo – Master of all the Martial Arts, usually equivalent from and including 7-8.dan, black belt.

The level of competence has been built up through 1,000 years of development by leaders and martial arts grandmasters who have proven their worth in peacetime, as well as on the battlefield in the real world under maximum possible pressure. Today, the system is adapted to the present as a modern tool. We therefore call our members today; Viking Samurais, as we are based on a Japanese world cultural heritage, but our anchoring and bridge building is and will be Scandinavia.

Shindenkan was the first martial arts organization in Denmark to be officially recognized as an international competence organization and special federation by DGI Landsforbund og Kampidræt in 2009. The document was signed by DGI's national chairman, Søren Møller and Shindenkan Honbu Dojo's chairman and chief instructor, Kimu K. Bjarkmann . 

DGI represents approx. 1.7 million athletes in Denmark and is a member of the international ISCA with approx. 40 million members. 

In 2020, the highest international cultural-historical recognition was officially awarded to Yashin Mon. Yakami no Taijutsu. Since 1876, it has only happened every 10-15 years for one martial art system.

The ancient system with the Japanese Soke number 34, Soke Sensei Tonegawa at the head, was through the pardon of one of his senior students, honored and blue stamped by the Japanese Emperor, Government and Ministry of Culture, through a Japanese Knight's Cross of the first degree.

We were established in Denmark in 1967. But we have more than 1,000 years of history as Japanese World Cultural Heritage. You can become part of this story and you are welcome!
