Jokokan's Christmas training in Slagelse

By Jokokan Honbu

For the eleventh year in a row, students from Jokokan's schools gathered in Søndermarkshallen in Slagelse, where the hosts from Jokokan Slagelse Karate School had once again prepared a brilliant event. There were originally 45 registered, but due to winter illnesses, 5 had to stay at home under the covers.

True to tradition, the Christmas training is a very relaxed, cheerful and unifying community activity, which was further emphasized by the theme of the training, and Kimu Sensei and Jens Shihan both wore Santa hats throughout the lesson.

The theme of the training was that Santa needed Jokokan's help to hand out all the lovely and well-deserved gifts. When Santa Claus knew that Yakami-ryu is a total martial art system, he decided that Kimu Sensei should be trained in the masculine aspect and Jens Shihan in the feminine aspect of the "Leprechaun Training". This united and united unit of instructors was then to train all present Jokokan students, in preparation for the great Christmas battle; the distribution of Christmas presents and the observance of the deeper universal messages of the holiday.

The philosophy was transferred directly to the training; "You can do much more than you tell yourself" and "Learn from the past, live in the present and prepare for the future" were two common elements. But that this was not only centered around oneself, but also from oneself; "From all of us to all of you".

One must not only receive on one's own or on the needs and conditions of others, one must also be able to give on one's own and on the needs and conditions of others. When you are in a community, for example, the strong must also be able to show weakness towards the weak, if this can develop and encourage the weak to become stronger through renewed faith in themselves.

Recognizing both your strengths and weaknesses, and being encouraged to do so by your peers, can create a long-term and permanent impact. This at the same time as, on top of that, you allow yourself and others to be proud, happy and show this, without this being perceived incorrectly and destructively.

The goblin training was concluded with an introduction to next year's formal graduation sessions at Honbu-dojo. Before, this has been an integral part of the various training camps. This will still apply to JokoKidz, but no longer to the adults. The reason for this optimization is that all students must have a chance to show and perform their best under optimal conditions before and during. It can often be more difficult after a few days of demanding training from morning to night, and perhaps a bad night's sleep during a training camp.

The camp ended with a traditional Danish Christmas lunch in the usual good and cheerful Jokokan atmosphere."
