Shindenkan SST is a success. The new SST convention which has just been completed on 6.11.2016 was a great success for both participants, instructors and Shindenkan, where the purpose of the convention was to make an introduction for all new members to the multi-track martial arts system Yakami Shinsei-Ryu Karate-do .

How can I say it was a success? - I can do that because I was there! I was part of the SST convention together with 65 new Shindenkaners and 8 Shindenkan Honbu instructors.

A new SST is created

This time the SST convention was held according to a completely new concept developed by Kimu Sensei, a concept tailored to new members, through mutual adjustment of expectations and good mood.

Kimu Sensei contacted me and said that he had long wanted the SST convention to be updated and implemented according to his original design, and after he had explained his idea to me - he asked if I would help plan and implement it - and I said yes.

I said yes because I thought the concept Kimu Sensei had developed was brilliant, and I was convinced that if we followed the concept closely, the new SST would give the participants a perfect introduction to Shindenkan, and at the same time a reconciliation of expectations between new members and everyone Honbu instructors, and last but not least a perfect introduction to Yakami Shinsei-Ryu Karate-Do.

The concept – the understanding

So what is SST in Kimu Sensei's new concept? SST is an introductory meeting for Shindenkan and the purpose is to give the new Shindenkaners a good overview of how they can best achieve success, joy, development and fun in Shindenkan.

SST is a poll of expectations and presentation of Shindenkan and Honbu dojo instructors, with the aim of creating security for parents, adults, JokoTeens and JokoKidz.

At the SST convention, there is an exchange in the spirit of Shindenkan with mutual respect - where the participants get to know Honbu dojo's instructors and where the national Honbu dojo's instructors get to know the future students.

The collaboration

When Kimu Sensei asked me if I wanted to help plan and implement the new SST according to his concept, I was happy, both because I thought the concept was good, but also because it would be a super cool experience to do something together..

It was a really good experience - just like in the old days, when I helped Kimu Sensei plan the rollout of the new initiative in Yakami Shinsei-Ryu. We had a fantastic collaboration, an exciting atmosphere, where we worked quickly and efficiently, helped each other and gradually filled in the SST frame - until it was finished.

It was super cool!

Execution

The fantastic collaboration and atmosphere that had existed between Kimu Sensei and me throughout the planning rubbed off on the entire director team and also created a fantastic atmosphere between participants and directors - and a fantastic atmosphere between the directors. We all had the chance to show who we are, what we can do and tell our story – the Shindenkan way – mutual respect and acceptance..

I feel lucky - because I was allowed to be involved in both the planning and execution and at the same time experience and participate in this first new SST.
