Shooting with a broken leg
Hello,
My name is Jonas and I am 11 years old and I was on a shooting course with a broken leg.
Saturday morning started with me having to drive from a class weekend, which took place at the colony at Jægerspris, with my father at 8 o'clock. When we arrived in Greve, where the shooting lessons were to take place, I met my mother, who also took part in the shooting course, and we went to the hall. I was in a wheelchair and couldn't support my leg, so my leg was tied to the wheelchair and I had to shoot like that.
When it was 9 o'clock it started, first we had to rehearse what we did last time, and it took approx. hour and a half. AND THEN WE SHOULD SHOOT!
We started by finding a partner, and my partner was Jens. I started shooting, first at 3, then at 5 and then 7 meters. We had to shoot 15 shots at each plate while the others were out to load. Then it was Jen's turn to shoot. It went reasonably well for both of us and everyone else, I think.
Then we all had to split into 3 teams. On one team, you first had to go back and forth and shoot at the same target from different distances, then you had to go forward and sideways and shoot at different targets. On the next team, you had to shoot with a laser gun at a large plate with areas where you were not allowed to hit. And on the last team you had to shoot at 4 small iron plates on the floor, the first 3 fell down and the fourth glowed in different colors when you hit.
It went well on almost all teams. Then there was lunch for half an hour.
The last task was that one by one we had to complete a large course, where you went forward and shot 3 shots, then sideways with 11 shots at different targets. After that we had to put a new magazine there where we had to shoot in the same place as with the laser gun, and finally on the iron plates - and then we were done.
It was one of the most fun things I had ever experienced! And I'm glad I was allowed to complete my course with a broken leg and sitting in a wheelchair!
