Another early Friday afternoon; another trip with bridge and tunnel to Sweden's pearl, Malmö....
This time with clear knowledge of what happened only 3 weeks ago when RRCamp10.1 went off the rails. RRCamp10.1 had been followed by a whirlwind of activity, where the newfound knowledge and realization had to be translated into plans and action. We had all been lying flat since then, reaching unimaginable amounts. Kimu Sensei invited us shortly after to RRCamp 10.2, because as he wrote – we badly needed the camp to effectively implement our plans.
So we were completely clear about what we were getting into this time. We knew we had to be well-trained, focused, motivated as well as honest, efficient and goal-oriented. We also knew that it wouldn't really pay to pack nightwear, as it was probably what we needed the least. And we were well prepared and on time, grounded, and calm and collected, and ready to do our 100% best.
All the wheels in the machinery ran like clockwork and the practicalities were sorted out efficiently and without hesitation, so soon we were back in front of the selection of running/cycling/rowing and fitness machines, ready for action. The view from the top floor was hampered by the fact that it was now definitely autumn weather, but it was actually quite ok, because the requirements had been turned up, and there was not much room for extraneous disturbances. There was less talk and more sweat, and again we went directly from our first exercise to the machines to further incorporate the optimal fitness cross training targeted at martial arts and martial arts.
We took a quick shower and went straight to the meeting room to get to the point. The ground rules had not changed! The camp was one long test, and the test only ended the moment we dumped, or were told we passed!
And when we were asked the main conclusion from RRCamp10.1 we were quick with the correct answer……..
And then the chain fell off! Completely and irrevocably! Because the right answer wasn't right anymore – something was missing. The journey from martial arts to martial arts cannot be done with standard solutions – not even with the best standard solutions. It has to be adjusted, adjusted and customized so that we find our own individual solution, our own personal answer. And even though we had worked probably so intensely and efficiently with the solutions from RRCamp10.1, it would have been useless if we hadn't made them our own, if we hadn't worked through them, and taken them apart and put them back together with new knowledge of why and how they worked.
In short, it was a cold dip! Meeen, the good thing about cold dips is that you are very awake and clear-headed after one.
And then we moved on in the new higher gear, with the realizations that we have to transform group realizations into personal realizations, group solutions into personal solutions and group templates into personal templates. Otherwise, we have wasted our time and resources!
We worked through our results and conclusions from RRCamp10.1, and had them upgraded to version (RRCamp)10.2. Targeted exercises were again built on, where the level and quality of the solutions just had to be top notch. We were given the opportunity to clarify our roles and tasks, and build common strength, save, efficient use of our common resources. There was of course also room for a test.
In short, we dived into the tunnel of concentration, again and only came out again the following afternoon in the drizzle in the square outside the hotel, before we again drove back over the bridge to Denmark. As last was the assignment – Thoughts to words to action.
At the end of RRCamp10.1, I did not expect that the level and intensity could be turned up like that, but I must promise that in RRCamp10.2 we got on the big high blade.
Note to self: Expect nothing, but be prepared for everything!
