By Jokokan Honbu

It is a great pleasure to announce that the Shindenkan organization is establishing a new karate school with "Space for everyone - the elite as exercisers" at Christianshavn in Copenhagen.

The head instructor has over 20 years of martial arts experience with 17 years training in Shindenkan (Jokokan) and a further three years training with other Chinese and Korean martial arts systems.

Janus Friis is 35 years old and recently became a father for the first time. He has spent a large part of his life in the Scout movement on a very active leadership level. Janus first became a black belt in karate 12 years ago and is today a 2nd dan, black belt in Yakami Shinsei-ryu karate-do at Jokokan, including Shindenkan.

Janus looks forward to welcoming everyone and creating a new Jokokan school together with them. Let's wish him luck and everyone help Janus make his ambition a success!.

Jokokan Christianshavn karate school is a member of Shindenkan Scandinavia (Jokokan), which is an association of eight Jokokan schools. The organization is expected to reach around 750 members before the summer of 2009. There are schools in Amager, Ballerup, Greve strand, Frederiksberg, Korsør, Slagelse, Holbæk and now Christianshavn. All work is voluntary and unpaid for the benefit of members and society throughout the organisation.
