The chief instructor passed

By Jokokan Honbu

Member of the Confederation Board and Chief Instructor of Jokokan Skælskør Karate School passed his double graduation to:

SHODEN, Yakami-ryu Taijutsu
&
1. Dan SENIOR (1½ dan), Yakami-ryu Gensei Karate-do.

Jokokan does not have free sport match as such in daily training, but has a realistic free match test in connection with all instructor graduations. Jokokan's free fight test is a very tough and realistic form, which can be compared well with "Street fighting" rules. However, it may only be marked in the main region.

This means that the test matches are performed full contact with both floor and distance matches with an exchange of different Yakami-ryu fighting techniques.

This places great demands on the physical and mental fitness of the graduate - and fellow combatants. Therefore, each graduate is tested physically and mentally shortly before the eventual graduation with Jokokan's physical test package, which is adapted to each degree. Freestyle and physical tests take place at all graduations from 3rd kyu, brown belt to 3rd dan, black belt.

For Jokokidz, old boys/girls and wonder boys/girls, the freestyle test takes place under adapted conditions designed and targeted for these groups. Overall, however, they fulfill the main purpose of freestyle and physical tests.

Per Nygaard Kristensen passed the physical and mental test without any problems, and showed overview, technique and willpower during the nine hard matches he had to prove the main purpose of the test free matches. Incidentally, this was different from his last graduation, where he had to go through 23 test matches. So a marked improvement.

Combined with passing Ryuha (Techniques from the syllabus) and Ryugi (Yakami's philosophy and insight) over the last 4 months, Per Nygaard Kristensen therefore immediately got an offer for 2nd dan, Yakami-ryu Gensei Karate-do during the upcoming instructor's camp, end of June 2004. This is very unusual.

Jokokan Honbu-dojo and Jokokan Forbundet wish Chief Instructor, Per Nygaard Kristensen hearty congratulations on the very nice graduation, and Jokokan Skælskør karate school with their skilled Chief Instructor, of whom they can rightly be proud.
