A piece of Danish history

By Jokokan Honbu

The small isolated frenzy we witnessed up until the summer of 2008 has inspired Shindenkan to be blue-stamped and officially recognized in Denmark at the absolute highest level. Instead of just international. We have now become that, as well as in 50 other countries per April 2, 2009. So a thank you is probably in order..

After 8 months of negotiations with the DGI national organization, the Shindenkan organization has now entered into a special agreement at the highest level in the world of sports.

DGI national organization and DGI Kampidræt's national organization now recognize our special association and our course organization Kaidenkan of the highest international standard. The negotiations have mainly taken place directly with DGI's management, but of course also with DGI Kampidræt's national chairman, who represents approx. 12,500 members in Denmark.

This unique agreement was adopted by DGI's executive board and subsequently by DGI's main board on April 2, 2009. On the same day, the agreement was adopted by Shindenkan's main board, board and Shihan-kai.

The agreement was signed by DGI country chairman Søren Møller, DGI competition country chairman Lyngdorf, Kimu Bjarkmann as Shindenkan European and Scandinavian chairman of the board and Shindenkan Denmark's chairman of the board, Søren Nielsen, in the presence of the DGI competition country committee. This is the first recognition and cooperation agreement of its kind that the DGI country organization and the DGI Kampidræt country organization have entered into, and is therefore Denmark's history.

We hope that this first agreement will pave the way for other special associations.

The final agreement was signed at DGI on 26 May 2009, and can now be published. All schools in the Shindenkan Special Association are covered by the DGI – Shindenkan agreement.

DGI national organization has 1.3 million members in Denmark. DGI is the initiator, co-founder and member of the relatively new international association ISCA, which includes 50 member countries and 22 million members. www.dgi.dk. Shindenkan has per February 1, 2009 approx. 658 members spread over 8 schools. Shindenkan is a member of Jokokan International, Bujutsu Kodosoku-kai and now DGI.
