Friday afternoon in the hall at Tjørnelyskolen. Airguns lined up on one table, magazines on another, the shooting discs hang in a row on the wall and the cooler from the projector hums. It is now time for us participants to see about approx. 5 weeks of dry training bears fruit.

For POMW I TSM-B we were told to go home and train every day with correct body position, correct grip on the gun, correct use of sights and correct handling of the gun in general. In short, focus on safety and basic training – the nine basic rules. This should, with the right attitude, lead to us becoming significantly better at hitting the black field on the target.

Just like karate, where the movements in the kata must be repeated and repeated in order for the kata to be performed correctly, the shooting technique must be repeated in order to become good at shooting and hitting.

The day starts with what's new around the SDK, i.a. with presentation of the new, attractive, approved coats of arms. A recap from previous times: POMW: Why? The two reasons: Minouchi Sensei's theory and that we have to deal with the times, and finally a repetition of correct shooting technique.

Then we start shooting: First 3 meters, then 5, 7 and 11 and then back to gradually back to 3 meters to establish that you actually hit better than before. And always keep in mind correct shooting technique: keep focus on the aiming devices, etc. When practicing kata, we start by executing at 20% speed, then 50% and 80-100%, then go back to 20%, to also note that you've gotten better at performing the kata correctly, so here's a link too. However, it must be stated that it is far easier to hit the bulls-eye when shooting than to hit the "bulls-eye" in e.g. kata Ten-i.

We all note that the 5 weeks of dry training have borne fruit. We are all hitting much better than five weeks ago, at all distances.

After shooting with SIRT laser guns, evaluation, group photo and cleaning up with Shindenkan efficiency, it's home.

SamuraiViking officers – As the general and military strategist Sun Tsu said; "He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight, and Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win."
