It has now been several years since I completed POMW III. I was on the first team in 2013 and it was a journey where my limits were exceeded and I went from not being able to hit anything at a distance of 3 meters to being able to hit 10s at 25 meters with both cal 0.22 and 9 mm pistols . And I eventually learned to "love" the recoil of the 9mm.
An infatuation that has been challenged if you don't regularly train and maintain your skills. I therefore thought the most difficult thing over the years has been to be friends with the recoil of the 9mm.
POMW III has been completed every 4 years on average, as it requires a lot of resources to complete and I was part of the instructor team on team POMW III – team 6 😊.
The unique thing about Shindenkan is that things are never status quo, everything is refined and optimized – there is always a meaning to everything. Even learning to blame at a high level is related to the martial arts we train. Everything is well thought out, nothing is random and everything is scalable for both the individual and the group.
Again, there was innovation in the way the new team learned to shoot. The training and learning from the teams since we started had been refined in the most elegant way and also ensured that we used the least amount of ammo possible. I am absolutely sure that the Danish military and the police would be able to save both time and money if they followed the same methodology. Likewise, they will become really good shooters in the shortest possible time.
POMW III – team 6 anno 2024 – got really good at mastering a gun and again there was a steep learning curve from start to finish. We had a couple of super talents on the team, who during the process also had to learn to embrace and recognize themselves for being a talent.
Like the other teams, there were many who got a personal victory and were proud of their performance. Again, it was not about the result but about the process. What was the "bottom" when you started and what was the end result. Everyone's bottom level was raised time after time.
Personally, I found again that if I decide to be good, I will be good. The minimum level for me is that I train for the agreed 15-20 minutes approx. 3-4 times a week – both shooting technique and weight training. How hard can it be? Yes, it can be very difficult 😊
Thank you for being part of a truly unique unity on the POMW anno 2024 team and not least the super delicious cakes, regular or gluten-free, that Helene baked 😊
