Jokokan and Arena Øresund

By Jokokan Federation

The new sports hall in Ballerup, where the Jokokan Ballerup Karate School has facilities, laid the groundwork for the ground-breaking sports cooperation across the Øresund, with the Danish and Swedish sports federations as organisers. Arena Øresund is an ambitious project where young people on both sides of the strait have the opportunity to practice different sports in Malmø (Sweden), Gentofte, Copenhagen and Ballerup on days 15-17. June, 2003. Free buses provided easy transport between tender sites.

Jokokan provided 5 black belts for the project with federation chairman Kimu Yamana Bjarkmann, 7th dan and country manager Jens Iversen, 5th dan in the lead, and three well-motivated JokoKidz instructors.
