POMW course Team 6 – now a total of 165 POMW shooters passed

Article written by Kimu K. Bjarkmann

Shindenkan and the 1000-year-old multi-track martial arts and martial arts system; Yakami Shinsei-ryu Taijutsu & Karate-do, is an international cultural heritage organization based on voluntary and unpaid association work. We have a Viking-Samurai history in Scandinavia and Denmark since 1965-67, which is 60 years. We have received national and international recognition at the very highest level of society. But we are a competence organization and we must constantly keep up with the times in our communication and dissemination tools. It requires constant investments and the development of new tools, and passionate people who take the lead in the voluntary and unpaid association work based in Denmark. POMW is one of these projects.

The POMW project is a large international Shindenkan project from 2011-2024+. POMW stands for Project Old Modern Warrior. The project arose from the eternal internal and external theoretical discussions about the multi-track 1,000-year-old martial arts system; Yakami Shinsei-ryu Taijutsu & Karate-do had some relevance in the modern world of firearms. The POMW project set out to turn theory into practice and settle this once and for all, according to recognized and accepted international principles and standards.

The starting point for POMW was the theory of the old Japanese martial art grandmaster, Minouchi Sensei, that it was quite easy to answer, since it was the person behind the weapon who made the biggest and decisive difference, regardless of time period, place and weapon development. And so it has always been in history.

The result was a large international project that came to include 12 different countries in Europe, the USA and Asia, where the world's absolute most reputable shooting legends over decades, military and civilian, willingly passed on their life's shooting essence within their shooting tip competence; Revolver, Pistol, fully automatic rifles, rifle and ultra long range shooting. It thus also became the most expensive project in Shindenkan's history to date, but attracted great international recognition on several levels. But it also caused great opposition from certain groups and countries.

The results are fact-based, as the competence standard is according to the international competence shooting standard, within pistol, rifle and long-range shooting.

Martial arts and martial arts are ideal as a human starting point for the tool POMW, as all martial artists are trained in inner clarification, technique, focus, stamina, top form on all parameters, and are used to performing in all conditions. The practitioners from Shindenkan are ideal for the purpose, as they are all multitrack trained at different levels of competence (degrees) at both a national and internationally recognized community level.

The international static marksmanship competence standard has been fixed throughout the project, but the dynamic learning processes and essence methodologies are completely structured according to Shindenkan's Yakami Shinsei-ryu Taijutsu & Karate-do's Curriculum handbook and toolbox.

The international POMW project was based in the Shindenkan Honbu (main school) Competence and Development Center (SCDC) and was carried out by the SCDC project manager who paved the way at the same time as knowledge and education training for the subsequent teams. It has taken place in 12 different countries in the period from 2011-2024+. The project had been adopted and approved by a general meeting, with a budget and costs totaling more than DKK 2 million. After 14 years, the project deficit has been reduced by approx. 26 %. It is Shindenkan's most expensive capped international project ever, which entailed unclaimed debt financing.

The work base of Shindenkan Honbu's project department; Shindenkan Competence and Development Center (SKUC or in English SCDC), which houses all major international projects in Shindenkan, with SOPORG as the steering group. SOPORG is the day-to-day national operating committee, which consists of the democratically elected Federation Chairman and Deputy Chairman, Honbu's chairman and deputy chairman, and usually one additional democratically elected local management representative from Shindenkan.

Collection, conclusions and appointments

All set process and result targets were met just like the previous teams. This means that POMW gives constant results through an individual and group-adapted process, as Minouchi Sensei's theory has been proven time and time again in the period 2011-2024+ and with 165 POMW graduates.

Teams 1-4 and partly team 5 focused hard on the hard performance targets which are the international shooting standard, in addition to the main project objective; Minouchi Sensei's theory proof.

Team 6 has also focused on the hard performance targets, but more in balance with the soft performance targets; Minouchi Sensei's theory proof. The reason is a more homogeneous team composition.

POMW Chief shooting instructor and chief shooting leader was Kimu K. Bjarkmann, who is also the project manager of the POMW project 2011-2024+. The POMW III launcher was; Jens Iversen and event manager were; Michael Nørgaard, Assistant shooting leaders and shooting commanders were; Kjeld Nyrup, Pia Hornung, Anette K. Bjarkmann.

The shooting association, SDKSkyt, is a member association of Shindenkan, established in 2012. There are 9 DSU/DGI shooting leaders with an official Danish diploma per 1/11-2024, 3 IPSC DSF A+ license, 2 IPSC DSF B license and 1 IPSC DSF IROA International Range Officer/Shooting Judge.
