We are halfway through Shindenkan's intensive course over a good 5 months. This is the third POMW course in Shindenkan's history, which runs from June to October, and in total more than 100,000 good shots will be fired.

100,000 shots weigh a total of one ton! That's quite a lot - don't you think?

This means that a total of just under 1 ton of ammunition is collected, delivered and fired, and last but not least, all the fired cartridge cases are collected from the ground again.

10 new shooters have registered for this year's POMW course and if all goes well, 10 new POMW shooters will also be trained. This means that there are 166 who have completed the Shindenkan POMW.

At the same time, "The Shindenkan Way" an intensive OBC POMW course will be carried out for a further 10 existing POMW shooters - including the undersigned J. Because of course, POMW, just like the other competence training in Shindenkan, has OBC (Mandatory Competence Certification ) and therefore there are thus 10 shooters, including myself J who get their skills developed and updated and can benefit from this throughout the rest of the season and I am very happy about that.

Planning and construction

A POMW course is a huge event where everything must be planned with precision, all course material must be updated and revised with the latest additions. Resources must be booked 1 year in advance and therefore it is also necessary that there is binding registration 8-10 months before the POWM course starts. So it is a very large planning phase which is primarily carried out by Kimu Sensei with the help of SOPORG and SDKSkyt's board.

In addition, everything must be purchased, ammo, discs, building material. Courses must be designed and built, premises and shooting ranges must be tested to ensure the optimal POMW experience for everyone – nothing is left to chance.

Safety and training

Safety is extremely important in SDKSkyt and in Shindenkan and all precautions are reviewed over and over again. Safety - safety and safety again.

And then there is the training itself, which as always in Shindenkan and SDKSkyt is a super cool, well-planned experience for all the participants - even if it is over a long period of time. I myself have been looking forward to it since the beginning of the planning phase.

The training efforts are planned over 5 months with 18 full shooting training days on the shooting range of 8 – 10 hours duration. In addition, there will be approx. 50 hours of dry training which is divided between the 18 wet training days. It is a huge training and teaching effort and a lot of follow-up work, and it is primarily Kimu Sensei who is responsible for this part, with help from SOPORG.

An intensive POMW training course is completed approx. every three years and I have to admit that it is just super cool to have the opportunity to stand on the shooting range with my training buddies and friends and train POMW.

It is a fairly intensive training course and to give you a sense of how big the training effort really is, I have inserted the following update of the overall course:

It is a total of approx. 220 hours of training in just 5 months! Most sports, with training 2 times a week and weekend training once in a while, train maybe half of this in a whole season!

Yes, it's a lot of hours, but what a great workout it is.

For those of you in Shindenkan who have not yet tried this – look forward to the next time it comes, because it will surely be one of the coolest experiences in a long time.

Status right now.

Status right now where we are approx. half way is that SDKSkyt's IPSC instructor team has completed approximately 21,500 shots, of which SDKSkyt's ROA Kimu Bjarkmann (Kimu Sensei) has fired the vast majority of shots - exactly 11,598 shots. The BIO OBC team has shot a total of 4,678 shots.

It is a total of just over 26,000 good shots just before we go into the air with POMW II and even though there are approx. 12% under Kimu Sensei's planned number of shots - it should probably go up much higher.
Because it is only now that we really get started 🙂

It is expected that during this POMW course we will round the 100,000 good shots and I am sure that the new POMW shooters will tell very positive and experience-filled stories about their participation when POMW III is well over before week 42 at the latest.
