POMW III

One more Sunday to shoot, POMW 3 last course day.

I wake up and I'm excited, looking forward to getting out and shooting, and it's like the first time I've really felt that way. A nice feeling. As we head to the shooting range, it slowly dawns on me that this will be the last chance to show what you can do. It has to be utilized, so it's just a matter of remembering what you learned from knowing you had to do better from the other times, and remembering what you personally found out during the week during the dry training.

When we get down to the "hole", it is a completely different environment than what we are used to. An open space, this time there is nothing between us, we are standing out in the open. In addition, we have a lot of markings out, so you can see the different lengths we shoot from.

From 7 meters to some of 45+ meters, that's a big difference. But also a lot of fun!
Personally, I realized a little more what you had to do to hit the long distances, and I became a bit more autistic in my shooting throughout the day.
We got to shoot well over 500 9mm rounds, which can be felt in the body. And especially the day after. But then you know you're alive.

All the shots we got off were a lot of fun, even if it was hard, but you are with lovely people all day, so it's not a big problem. For me, this last time was the most fun, there were the most things you could try, and it was here that we did most of the things we had tried over the last 3 months.

It all just happens in new surroundings, which makes it just a lot more fun, which is a bit strange since it's almost the same thing we do. But throughout the day there was plenty of opportunity for improvement, and I tried everything I could to listen to what Kimu Sensei had to say to me, and try to do the things I was now told better.

I would say that POMW 3 was also where I got the most control over myself. I didn't let the gun decide, but at the same time I tried not to overcome it. Instead of just letting it do what it was made for, and then I just followed the process that we had been taught in. Which I did and I got to shoot better than the other times. It generally gives a really nice feeling when you succeed in doing something that your instructors have tried to get through to you. And partly I would say it was something that I got to work for POMW 3.

At the end of the day we had to go back to the range shooting and we had to shoot .22 caliber, which was strange because all day we had been shooting a lot something a lot more powerful. In return, it also meant that you couldn't feel that you were shooting, and it was almost just like shooting dry shots.

But just because you think it's easier to shoot doesn't mean you'll hit anything. I can vouch for that. I either shot over or under the target and it was consistent, I missed nothing in the last shots we fired, which is not the best way to end. That's not what I want to remember though. What I will take with me from this course is everything I have learned about myself and how I have learned to work with myself. Plus I think it's super fun to shoot, especially when you're not afraid of the weapon you have in your hands.

Thank you for a great course, and a really good POMW course, I would highly recommend it to all those who are considering whether to take it next time.
