Bear: Once My demons were shot down by the first 100 shots I could see that what I could do, I couldn't actually do anyway. And once they were shot down by the Shindenkan shooting manual, I could feel an improvement and could then start centering my shots, and it was after only 3 weeks of training with a toy gun (yes a toy gun!) that the aim was focused , exhaust, breathing, hand and foot position.
I've probably fired 200-300,000 rounds with different calibers, there's still one thing that goes over and over again, and that's breathing. The breathing was still in place. HOORAY!
The inner boy ass came out again when we had to move according to fixed targets, and with magazine changes on time. The inner dengen enjoyed themselves because it reminded them of the "killhouse" (Ed. military elite background).
Mads: The first time we had to shoot, I thought that it couldn't be that difficult to hit that target, but I got wiser. I personally couldn't hit a charging port from 5 meters away. There was a slightly depressed mood of not being able to hit anything that day. But in the hope that 3 weeks later I could be good at shooting, by training with a toy gun. Because Kimu Sensei had told us that if we practiced the 3 weeks with a toy gun and focused on aiming, trigger, breathing, hand and foot position we would be able to hit the target 3 weeks later. I thought myself that after the first day on the course where I couldn't hit anything, it couldn't help to "play" with a plastic gun, and it certainly couldn't help me to get better at shooting.. Meeen I became wiser, because 3 weeks later it actually ended up going terrifically well, and on the course we had to run through on time, I also ended up hitting every single target in the second fastest time.
So all in all it has been a fantastic course with lots of laughs, sweat and educational lessons.
