The frost bit the nostrils from a cloudless sky, while the golden rays of the sun shone on Chief Instructor Martin Hansen and future Chief Instructor, Søren Nielsen, as a constant encouragement to complete Jokokan's basic physical form tests in the nice but intense atmosphere at center Nautilus in Ballerup.
Jokokan's physical test is divided into three sections with a maximum of 3 minutes break between each section. It is a requirement of 3.kyu, brown belt, that the graduate can complete Jokokan's basic form tests within the given time frames and set standard.
Martin Hansen, chief instructor for Jokokan Korsør Karate School, 1st dan Yakami-ryu Gensei Karate-do, after a targeted special training course for the last six months, will progress to his 1st dan, Yakami-ryu Taijutsu, on 22 February 2003.
Where Yakami-ryu Taijutsu is the total martial art system, ie. the whole pizza, Yakami-ryu Gensei Karate-do is one slice of pizza. Both are, of course, based on the same 8 forces and 12 principles, but in different overall and degree of difficulty
Martin first had to pass the physical test. Since Martin has already taken this test for Yakami-ryu Taijutsu 1st dan once, he was asked to test the new physical requirements for 1st dan, Yakami-ryu Gensei Karate-do.
Martin passed his physical test with the times:
The future head instructor of Jokokan Amager Karate School (opens March 1, 2003 in Tårnby), Søren Nielsen also had to pass his physical test. Søren is a 1st dan, Gensei-ryu Karate-do black belt from 1992. He changed in early 1999 to Jokokan and Yakami-ryu. On February 22, 2003, he will advance to 1.kyu, Yakami-ryu Taijutsu and 1.dan, Yakami-ryu Gensei Karate-do. Since the physical test for the Yakami-ryu Taijutsu degree places greater demands on Søren's basic form, he had to be tested in this.
Søren passed his physical test with the times:
Jokokan Honbu-dojo wishes Martin and Søren congratulations on passing the physical test, and good luck with the graduation on February 22, 2003 during the Jokokan annual Winter training camp.
