Then came the day when Jokokan Korsør Karate School officially opened its doors to Korsør's citizens and it was great to see that over forty interested children, young people and adults had turned up.
To help make the day something special, students and instructors from Jokokan Frederiksberg, Jokokan Skælskør and Jokokan Slagelse showed up in large numbers, as well as Jokokan Europe's Kaicho Kimu Yamana Bjarkmann Sodenke Sensei 7th dan and Jokokan Denmark's chief instructor Jens Iversen Shihan 5 .
Shihan Martin Hansen opened Jokokan Korsør Karate School with a short introduction of Jokokan and the instructor team in Korsør and then handed over verbatim to Kimu Sensei. Kimu Sensei told the audience about Yakami-ryu and Soké Tonegawa Sensei and stated that Jokokan is for everyone and our purpose is to create whole and happy people.
Afterwards, Jens Shihan, in his capacity as chief instructor for Jokokan Denmark, performed a ceremony where Shihan Martin Hansen was officially appointed as Chief Instructor for Jokokan Korsør Karate School with the associated certificate and chief instructor stamp, and Shihan-dai Per Nygaard Kristensen as deputy chief instructor for Jokokan Korsør Karate School.
Then it was time for the second point of the evening, the karate demonstration. Jokokan Denmark's demonstration team gave the spectators an insight into the many facets of which Yakami-ryu Gensei Karate-do is made up of, to great applause.
Finally, Shihan Martin Hansen and Shihan-dai Per Nygaard Kristensen invited everyone present to take part in a free trial lesson. This was particularly welcomed by all the children.
We wish Jokokan Korsør Karate School good luck and hope that the citizens of Korsør will support Jokokan as well in the future as they did on the opening night.
