New Jokokan school opens in Korsør on September 4, 2002

Jokokan Korsør Karate School opens its doors in the old market town for the first time, on September 4 at 20:00 at Skolen ved Noret, Linde Allé 56.

On the opening night, Jokokan's show team will give a demonstration of Yakami-ryu Gensei Karate-do and Yakami-ryu Taijutsu, after which there will be an introductory training and evening for all interested Korsør citizens aged 10 to 100.

The school's Chief Instructor is Martin Hansen, 1st dan black belt, 28 years old with 9 years of Yakami-ryu training behind him. His right-hand man as deputy chief instructor is Per Nygaard Kristensen, 1st dan black belt, 33 years old and with 14 years of training behind him, of which 5 in Yakami-ryu. Per is also an extremely experienced children's and junior instructor. Both reside in Vestsjællands Amt.

The instructor team has succeeded in persuading two very experienced and higher graduated instructors to regularly guest instruct at Jokokan Korsør karate school in its first year of existence.

Jan Vismann, 35 years old, 3rd dan black belt, 22 years of experience, Honbu-dojo- (main school) and Chief Instructor at Jokokan Slagelse Karate School, will be a monthly guest instructor. Jokokan Denmark's country manager will guest instruct every other month. Jens Iversen Shihan, 40, is a 5th dan black belt and has 28 years of training behind him.

Jokokan Europe's Kaicho, Yamana Sensei, 7 dan black belt teaches at the annual post- and winter training camps. Jokokan's Founder and Supreme Grandmaster, Soke Sensei Tonegawa, comes to Denmark and teaches all Jokokan students during a summer camp every two years. The next time will be the summer of 2003.
