Jokokan Annual General Assembly

By Jokokan Federation

On a virgin morning, when the dew-wet grass shone in the sun's rays outside the Borrevejle centre's meeting rooms, Jokokan's annual General Assembly was held. After consuming the obligatory wieners, rolls and numerous cups of coffee, the General Assembly was declared open by the chairman and the normal formalities could proceed. After the chairman's report on the past year 2001, which had been a difficult year for Jokokan with a major embezzlement by the federal treasurer, major organizational changes and changing developments, and the new federal treasurer's presentation of the financial year, the chairman together with Jokokan's Legal Advisor could review the changed, updated and adapted Articles of Association and Laws, and the associated Guidelines. After a round of questions and answers, the new Articles of Association, Laws and guidelines were unanimously adopted.

The participants at the annual general meeting were also presented with the results of the previous year's board work from each responsible board member, so that everyone was fully informed about this.

It was also stated that the "Board's work manual", where each individual board member's area of responsibility, deadlines and helpers are listed, is freely available on the members' website.

At the suggestion of the chairman, it was decided to officially call the democratic association and federation the “Jokokan – The Association and the Association of Yakami-ryu Karate-do”, and the Honbu-dojo (main school) the “Jokokan – The Association of Yashin Mon. Yakami no Taijutsu”, in everyday reference called Yakami-ryu Taijutsu.
