After completing the POMW I-II-III course in 2024, and after there have been a total of 165 Shindenkaners through the POMW I-II or POMW I-III course since 2011, the main learning is that Minouchi Sensei's theory is true, but also timeless
Main conclusions
- Minouchi Sensei's timeless conclusion is as true 1,000 years ago as it is today. It is the person's inner clarification that is decisive in all areas, which the process and results for six POMW teams clearly show - every time.
- It is people behind the weapon who choose to bring imbalances and chaos into a truth of essence, which really just consists of generalities and banalities, so that the process and results can never be optimal and better than before and now.
- The process is more important than the goal, not the other way around. To err is human. Never mind, learn from it, but always do your best. The national and international POMW results speak for themselves.
Main conclusions after the 4 multi-track division groups:
The POMW project was initiated in stages on four levels, which had to verify and confirm this internal clarification, based on traditional martial arts and martial arts at the international top level, through the tool POMW - the shooting disciplines.
The four levels were only established after the 1880s in Japan, when Japan underwent a rapid development from a medieval society to a modern industrial nation and the absolute superpower of Asia. Before the 1880s there were no degrees below Menkyo – Master of All the Martial Arts, which was the first martial art degree in more than 600+ years. There was a special reason for that.
But the conclusion is that the four groups can effectively be reduced to two – it is timeless:
- Above Densho Menkyo – Master of all the Martial arts – From 6th dan multi-track to 8th dan single track, black belt
- Under Densho Menkyo – densho degrees, not densho degrees and colored belts – From 6th kyu multi-track to 7th dan single track, black belt
The POMW learning structure will ensure the following based on 165+ POMW participants
- Completed and achieved goals for the "Living POMW" training course from POMW I to POMW III; My. 60 % DK 1st Division, 30 % DK 2nd Division and 10 % DK 3rd Division 2012-2013 standard, in at least one or more shooting disciplines.
- Subsequent maintenance, training and development according to the POMW shooting handbook, after completing the POMW training will be the following measured, after 165 participants in the period 2011-2024+.
- Above Densho Menkyo – Master of all the Martial arts – From 6th dan multi-track to 8th dan single track, black belt
- The following 0-2 years, there will be no measurable deterioration in competence and results.
- In the following 2-4 years, there will be a measurable deterioration in competence and results up to approx. 5 % per year.
- A new normal and full POMW course will stabilize competence and result courses. That is 20,000-30,000+ good shots.
- The secondary training effort will cause a measurable deterioration in competence and results of approx. 5-10 % between each POMW course.
- Under Densho Menkyo – densho degrees, not densho degrees and colored belts – From 6th kyu multi-track to 7th dan single track, black belt
- The following 0-2 years, there will be a measurable deterioration in competence and results of between typically 5-10 % per year.
- In the following 2-4 years, there will be a measurable deterioration in competence and results of a further up to 5-10 % per year.
- A new POMW course will stabilize competence and results.
- The tertiary training effort and changing attitude will cause a measurable deterioration in competence and results of approx. 10-20 % between each POMW course.
- The main problem is that maintenance, training and development according to the POMW shooting manual, after completing the POMW training - is not observed over time or is not 100 % correct and optimal. This is explained through Minouchi Sensei's timeless fact theory.
Maintenance, training and development according to POMW shooting manual, after completion of POMW training
The POMW competence course is part of Shindenkan's common multi-track competences according to the common Shindenkan's Yakami Shinsei-ryu Curriculum handbook and toolbox, applicable to everyone. POMW competence course courses can be taken from TG2; 6-5.kyu and must have been completed and passed at the latest if the member wishes to graduate to 1st dan, multi-track and 2nd dan single track, black belt. This is because the POMW course is also by far the most expensive and resource-intensive competence course in Shindenkan. It literally lays down the entire Shindenkan during the time periods POMW takes place. When it has to do with weapons, very special conditions apply, including weapons legislation and the highest level of security.
The learning structure of POMW I, POMW II and POMW III.
The learning structure that we call “Living POMW” and constantly with the mantra; Safety, Safety, Safety, – or DQ, has been fine-tuned and optimized over 14 years, but has proven its worth every time on all measures!

- POMW IIIB, 7-25+ m; Basic POMW Shooting Technique – The Schooled Way; Range shooting 0.22 and 9 mm 15-40 m and transition shooting 9 mm. The complete self-propelled shooter, 12-14 hours
- Subsequent minimum maintenance requirements are min. every other week 15-30 min POMW Dry training and min. 6-8+ annual range training indoors or outdoors with SIRT Laserguns, 0.22 and 9mm pistols. The ratio is typically 1/3 to 1/5.
Focus on Teams 1 – 5 vs. Focus on Team 6
Teams 1 – 5 had a HARD focus on comparable data collection for the Danish and international shooting world. Team 6 had a primary focus on consolidation on Minouchi Sensei's proven thesis, - i.e. the soft part, and thus the entire purpose of the POMW project 2011-2024+
Team 6 consisted of approx. 50 % old shooters and approx. 50 % brand new shooters. Anticipation by statistics for the old shooters; Usually manages approx. 50 % it really well, as they end up with openness, are hungry and cannon attitude. 50 % good, but less good considering the starting point. The reason is often that the most important thing for them is to establish that they decide for themselves! And often a fixed self-image. Are you that good about yourself? Firearms often have a strange effect on people, just like ShindenFight Kumite. Therefore, both tools are in Shindenkan's toolbox.
What is the task of the Chief Instructor and the Instructor Team? And what isn't it?
All participants without exception know what they are getting into, as we have carried out a thorough poll of expectations, and they can read all articles on the Shindenkan website and the POMW project page; www.pomwproject.com!
The main task is to meet people where people are, and take them on a wonderful journey into themselves and with fantastically unique experiences - if they want this.
It is the task to challenge each individual participant as everyone has been challenged before them - according to Minouchi Sensei's thesis. But it does NOT mean that this will be well received by everyone. With some, it creates BIG resistance. But most people use it as inspiration.
POMW shooting is like SHIAI ShindenFight KUMITE, – it is VERY revealing. Not physically, but emotionally, psychologically and mentally. This often leaves the person with a "Naked reality". Not everyone can fully accept this real self-image. Most resist themselves! And likes to blame others for their self-perceived failure, which doesn't necessarily line up with reality, facts, or that of the coaching staff. Essence; They are afraid to take responsibility and be good to themselves. They have a deep desire to be super good and fulfill their full potential, but often end up mediocre instead! It doesn't have to be that way. But it often ends that way. Why? Are you that good about yourself? And remember – Where and what WAS the starting point?
Extreme point when the fatigue and pressure are great; Get offended and think it is "Military discipline" when they are asked to respect safety rules and general mutual respect when others shoot.
Either after they have shot themselves and need to talk to others about their experiences VERY loudly - as they are wearing double ear protection. Or when they want to see their own target results and rush down to the targets to patch, - without all 9 mm pistols being secured. It happens ad hoc with tank cod, but typically mostly on the final POMW III day, when only 9 mm is shot, outdoors in freezing weather/rainy weather in the "Hullet" and in front of the grass at the shooting house. Where people are under pressure and "fighting with/against themselves"
The middle group; It is the 50-80 % group, which can be cut over one comb, but with different setting and different day shape and life cycle.
Extreme point groups "surrender" approx. half themselves, when they come to the realization that it is probably too stupid to "sit on the safe high horse" and not dare to allow themselves to be their best and fulfill their highest potential. That is Sunbeam Stories! However, they rarely admit it afterwards or only in one weak moment 😊.
Congratulations to you all and THANK YOU for a job well done
Shindenkan Honbu dojo wishes everyone a hearty congratulations on Pass/Completed, which you have rightly earned over three periods from December 2023 to October 2024.
