Under SDKSkyt's auspices, we have been fortunate enough to be appointed to carry out a sponsor event for a sponsor who wanted to invite approx. 20 participants included. It was an event where the sponsor wanted to have the opportunity to network through a fun and safe day at the shooting range.
Kimu Sensei had clarified the sponsor's expectations and through SKUC (Shindenkan's Competence & Development Center) subsequently created an absolutely fantastic process which was reviewed in detail - 6 hours at Hanebjerg Shooting Center at the end of August. When events are carried out in Shindenkan, it is planned down to the smallest detail, and this is also the case in SDKSKyt, since SDKSkyt is part of Shindenkan.
In the weeks leading up to the actual day of the event, the plan was fine-tuned and practically executed through the preparation of a playbook, by SKUC's designated practically responsible management team; Søren, Kjeld and Jens, with SKUC as inspiration, legal and quality manager. So that the playbook would be a razor-sharp foundation for the event itself. The content was structured according to SKUC's playbook regarding the sponsor's expectations, purpose and process-wise content, with POMW shooting technique as a starting point in a very short 3 hour version. But that did not make learning and development any less important for the participants.
The SDKSkyt POMW team met at 05:45 to coordinate and subsequently the day started with a good round of cleaning of the large gun house at Hanebjerg Shooting Center where the event was to be held. The cleaning was carried out by a professional company and as the sun rose and the coffee brewed, the SDKSkyt team could feel the scent of soap throughout the large shooting house 🙂 .
At 08:00 the first of the Sponsor's guests arrived and were received with smiles and breakfast. Exactly at 08:15 the whole event started with a welcome, presentation of the day, the SDKSkyt Team, including humorously also the team member, as head doctor from Rigshospitalet with a trauma medical bag 🙂 . Safety and security above all! And so it is for all Shindenkan's major activities. The event was the sponsor's day and SDKSkyt had the task of being the framework for the day. At 08:30 SDKSkyt took over and from there the next 15 minutes were spent with a brief insight into POMW. Who created it, what results were achieved and how is correct POMW shooting technique. All of this something that the participants welcomed with great interest.
After the various presentations, the actual shooting began - but first safety had to be taken care of, so everyone was given safety equipment intended for a shooting range. That is hearing protection and correct safety glasses. Furthermore, the participants were introduced to what one absolutely does not do with a gun in hand on a shooting range. This created laughter and smiles because even though it is serious, it can be presented in a humorous way. With a smile on your face you can make people understand serious things much better, which also proved to be correct for all the participants kept the safety to a clean 12 number.
Subsequently, correct POMW shooting technique was reviewed with Kjeld Renshi as shooter and Søren Renshi as firing leader. As in POMW, the dry training was also a very important part of this event. First with airguns and then with SIRT pistols - in exactly the same way as most of the world's elite military corps do it. The fantastic thing about dry training is that it also creates security. Many of the participants had never held a gun in their hand before and with the help of the dry training they got the technique in a safe and secure way.
After the dry training, what everyone had been waiting for had to start - namely the shooting with cal 0.22. In this event, the sponsor had included some different competitions. That is shooting between the different divided teams, between men and women as well as overall internal best shooter. And since many people are competitive, the tiles were put in the oven for an internal super fun and safe day. While shots were fired with cal.22 in one part of the shooting house, a "troubleshooting workshop" was set up in the other half so that the shooters could improve their technique - this was used to the full and it was clearly noticeable for Jens Hanshi-Dai, who was the "troubleshooting workshop" instructor, that the participants wanted to be skilled, because now there was a competition, so you might as well take advantage of all opportunities to win 🙂 .
For the SDKSkyt team; Søren, Kjeld, Jens, Pia, Michael, Christian, Steffen, Jan and Anette, it was a pleasure to see and feel the intensity and attitude of all the participants. They wanted to do their best and to that extent they wanted to learn. After the shooting with the cal.22, the participants also had to try shooting with the 9 mm pistol. It is something else, but if you have control of your shooting technique, it can actually be a really good experience - and it seemed to be for all shooters.
The black field in the shooting targets was perforated to such an extent that many of the shooters were a little surprised that they could hit. It must be said that there were some who did not always hit their own target but made a slight mistake with their own and their neighbour's target. That was sorted out and things got better from there.
In the POMW course, SDKSkyt has experienced several times that women listen more than men do. This was also presented at the beginning of the event, perhaps in the hope that this could be changed. But it didn't work out that way and the experiences from POMW held true in this event 🙂 .
After the shooting with the 9 mm, all the participants went out into the living room for a well-deserved lunch and prize distribution. SDKSkyt cleaned the guns and made sure to create peace so that the sponsor could complete their event as desired. And it was also clear from the atmosphere that the day had been fun, safe and extremely professionally run.
The sponsor has subsequently given extremely good feedback on this SVIP event, which was also a main test by SDKSkyt and SKUC – Shindenkan Competence & Development Center at a professionally run event for SVIP – Super VIP clients. The sponsor had set the bar very high in advance due to previous experience gathered from other larger companies' sponsored events with shooting on the program, which had not met expectations at all, had been carried out particularly safely or in a good empathetic environment and atmosphere. SDKSkyt subsequently received an impressive grade of 12 – with an upward arrow 🙂 and inquiries for future event bookings, which is the biggest real compliment. However, SDKSkyt has limited capacity for such SVIP events, - but a few each year we would like to say thank you with gratitude - and we have already done that.

In order for a plan to be implemented, it requires planning and a plan that can be understood. But it also requires teamwork and to that extent this team had a really good collaboration, which was instrumental in the day going as it should and to the delight of everyone - so many thanks for that!
