My Way to 3.kyu brown belt

By Bjørn Thon, Member until 2012

This is a long road that started back in 1975 in Slagelse, when it was called Budokan karate. Here I trained under Elvin and Torben for a while. This is where I saw the brown belt for the first time and said to myself:

That's the kind of thing I want to emulate.

Otherwise, it has been a tough physical and mental path. There have been ups and downs, the biggest downfall was after 4 kyu, my knees and achilles started to hurt.

A lot goes through one's head in the days leading up to the various stop tests, actually I didn't think I was affected by the pressure, but I was, says the whole family.

It is Kimu Sensei and Martin Renshi-dai, as well as the will that have guided me towards brown, but without the monthly curriculum training it would not have gone.

One or more pieces of good advice for others, keep at it, don't give up, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Find out how much to train for the circle, swimming or running, have this as a minimum requirement for yourself.
